MN District 7A election.
When the Minnesota department of corrections announced they were closing their facility in Togo representative Sandstede took the lead and was the first person to demand that the facility, programming and the good jobs be saved. She along with Senator Tomassoni were at the forefront and worked tirelessly to secure funding to keep the facility open. As a result of her efforts the legislature and department of corrections investment included supplemental budget funding to continue operations, funding for repair and maintenance including installing a new septic system, needed repairs of the barracks and gymnasium and upgrades to the administration building. These investments will ensure the viability of the facility now and well into the future. MCF-Togo employees 60 staff. These are well paying jobs staying in northern Minnesota, these types of jobs are crucial to the economic well being of our region. Without representative Sandstede’s actions in the legislature it is possible MCF-Togo would have closed and the jobs gone forever. District 7A needs a strong and effective leader like representative Sandstede working for us in the legislature.
