Michael S. Wein, 55, of Virginia, died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born Dec. 26, 1951, in Bronx, N.Y., the son of Phillip and Rosalyn (Bauman) Wein. After graduating from high school, he traveled and lived in Israel for a year. Upon his return he worked various jobs as a security guard until he became disabled. Michael married Kristine Cairl on Sept. 18, 1986, in Old Westbury, N.Y. In 1987, the couple moved to Minneapolis, where they resided for several years until they moved to Virginia in 2000.

His passion for helping people was expressed in the poetry he wrote and read in churches and at events and weddings for over 25 years. He was published in several books by the World of Poetry and has written more than 10,000 poems since he began after the death of his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kristine; brother, Len Wein of Woodland Hill, Calif.; aunts, Doris (Murray) Glazer of Bellmore, N.Y., and Gloria Lazaroff of Valley Stream, N.Y.; uncle, Harold (Shirley) Wein; mother-in-law, Sylvia Cairl of Aitkin; sister-in-law, Pamela (Tom) Brittell of Virginia; brothers-in-law, Terry Cairl of Virginia and Jack (Jodie) Cairl of Willow River; best friends, Ed Williams of Wantaugh, N.Y., and Fred McClinton of St. Paul; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one uncle.
