Study shows Mining impact triples tourism

A Canadian National train carrying 6,000 long tons of ore slowly leaves the Eveleth United Taconite plant for a 10-mile trip to Forbes.

Iron ore mining has near-unanimous support across Minnesota, according to a recent poll from the 2016 Minnesota State Survey.

The survey, conducted by the Minnesota Center for Survey Research at the University of Minnesota, showed that 93 percent of residents believe the state should continue mining iron ore. Researchers conducted the survey between October 2016 and April 2017, reaching out to 806 Minnesotans.
