AURORA — Nurses at Essentia Health Northern Pines in Aurora authorized a strike this week as contract negotiations with the health care provider broke down over one issue.

AFSCME Local 2780 voted Monday to “overwhelmingly reject” Essentia’s latest proposal, which called for removal of a successorship clause. A union source, who asked to remain anonymous because of their role in negotiations, said the sides went through mediation without resolution and the union would file its intent to strike in the allotted 30-day window.
