TOWER — Beware the ice!
That’s the warning from the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department after two vehicles were disabled in deep water as they crossed Pike Bay on Lake Vermilion between Hoodoo Point and Everett Point on Monday.
The occupants were able to make it safely to shore, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department.
The ice road has become unusable because of the warm weather.
The Sheriff’s Department is recommending no travel on the road. The public is also reminded of the ever-changing ice conditions on area lakes and is warned to use extreme caution.
